Rebecca Rubin, M.Ed.

Associate Director for Implementation

Rebecca joined the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence in July 2017, where she currently serves as the associate director for implementation collecting and analyzing data as part of the Client Relations Team. Her project aims to track and support implementation fidelity at all RULER schools. Rebecca also trains and coaches educators who wish to implement Social Emotional Learning in their schools and school districts. Previously, Rebecca served as the RULER program manager for elementary schools. In this role, she wrote the RULER curriculum for elementary schools. Rebecca is passionate about the potential for Culturally Responsible Teaching and Restorative Practices to bring equity to education and has worked to integrate these methods into the RULER approach. Rebecca's curriculum revisions have been implemented in hundreds of RULER schools nationwide.

Prior to joining the Center, she taught in elementary schools in both Washington, D.C. and Oakland, California. At Lighthouse Community Public School in Oakland, she championed efforts to incorporate Constructivist principles into curriculum, and she helped to train her colleagues. Rebecca contributed to the school's work to create comprehensive interdisciplinary units that are inquiry based, academically rigorous, rooted in project-based learning, and conclude with student-led assessments. She received a B.A. in political science from the University of Virginia and a Masters of Education from George Mason University. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, making pottery, and hiking with her dog, Hushpuppy.
