Annette Ponnock, Ph.D.

Associate Research Scientist

 Annette Ponnock is an associate research scientist at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. Her research broadly focuses on teachers’ motivation and emotions and their impact on students. Annette is particularly interested in the experiences of teachers in under-resourced urban schools and how different motivations for teaching influence student outcomes. Her research also focuses on methodological advances in person-centered analysis.

 Annette joined the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence after completing two years of postdoctoral training in the Department of Human Development and Quantitative Methodology at the University of Maryland – College Park. She earned her Ph.D. in educational psychology from Temple University, her M.A. in spiritual psychology from the University of Santa Monica, and her B.A. in political science, history, and Spanish from the University of Miami. Her work at the center focuses on teacher well-being and emotional intelligence measure development.
